Wacky Places for kids to go to in San Francisco
Exploratorium (Pier 15, San Francisco 94111, 415-528-4444)

The exciting Opening of the super sized Exploratorium at its new location will be on April 17, 2013 at Pier 15 on the Embarcadero.
The Exploratorium (interactive science museum) is going wacky big. Its visionary move from their old location of over 40 years will triple in size at the new indoor/outdoor space to 330,000 sq. feet, taking over Pier 15 and 17 along the Embarcadero in San Francisco.
The Exploratorium announced that 25 percent of their 600 exhibits will be brand new. The new renovations to the pier buildings, located on the water front, along with the construction of a new observatory glass building which will offer stunning views of the San Francisco Bay will make this location an incredible experience for children and adults.
This architectural marvel, along with geeky technology, will make the museum a net zero facility. Using green technologies, the new Exploratorium will be able to produce its own electricity. Quite an incredible feat, considering its enormous new space. Using state of the art solar panels and water from the San Francisco Bay to heat and or cool their buildings accordingly, the net zero feat will at least be partially showcased to the public.
